36th Annual Watercolor Society Juried Exhibition - National

The Alaska Watercolor Society was formed in 1974 as a not-for-profit organization to help promote the knowledge and understanding of professional watercolor painting in Alaska. The Society sponsors an annual juried watercolor exhibition that is open to all artists, 18 years and older living in the United States.

The juried exhibition will be held September 26 - November 22, 2010

ELIGIBILITY
Open to all artists 18 years or older, living in the United States. Paintings must be primarily aqua media (watercolor, acrylic, casein, goache, egg tempera) on paper surface, unvarnished, and under glass or Plexiglas. If used, pastel or paper collage (created by th artist) must be inconjunction with aqua media. No copies or photographs. The aqua media must be the dominant element. Work limited to 2 entries per artist. Works previously shown in an AKWS juried show or works done under instruction (e.g. during a class or workshop) are not eligible. Works must be original, at least 8"X10" and less than 2 years old.

PRESENTATION
All works must be suitably framed and ready for hanging with wire and under Plexiglass. No uniframes or saw-toothed handers allowed. Matting must be white or off-white. A narrow colored liner is acceptable. Frames should be narrow, simple and consistent with framing seen in fine art galleries.

SELECTION
All work will be juried from jpeg images only. Please do not send tiffs or ppt’s. Each image should be titled in the following format: First Image: Last Name__1__title__size__medium.jpg Second Image: Last Name__2__title__size__medium.jpg, etc.
Size of works should be labeled as inches (in) not as quotation marks. Resolution 300DPI with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longer side. Image must be correctly oriented (vertical or horizontal). Show only image, no frame or mat. No digital enhancement is allowed.


SALES
Works need not be for sale. A 25% commission will be retained by the Museum at Rasmuson Center on all works sold during the exhibition.

FEES
A $25.00 entry fee allows each artist to submit 2 images. Entry fees are nonrefundable. There are no handling fees for accepted work. Artists however, must pay shipping costs.

The World Artist Network will cover entry fees for selected artists wanting to participate of this competition, record all your info in a CD ready for the gallery to evaluate, complete and submit the application for you ensuring all details are covered. DEADLINE: THE DEADLINE FOR THIS EXHIBITION IS JUNE 4, 2010. IN ORDER TO TIMELY SUBMIT ALL ENTRIES WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT ENTRIES UNTIL MAY 24, 2010.
